Title: Compendium on Handwashing in Resource-poor Settings

In response to the global pandemic of COVID-19, the Sanitation Learning Hub of the Institute of Development Studies quickly prepared the Compendium on Handwashing in Resource-poor Settings which can be used to support increased access to facilities and promote positive handwashing behaviours. The Compendium provides guidance on low-cost handwashing facilities that can be widely used in low- and middle-income countries, where handwashing facilities are urgently needed in households, communities, schools, and health facilities.

The compendium includes additional information on:

– Handwashing facilities – including facilities that are accessible to all;

– Environmental markers to reinforce handwashing behaviours;

– Hygiene promotion with respect to social distancing.
